THE man who died in a house fire in Newcastle West in Limerick last night has not yet been named.

THE man who died in a house fire in Newcastle West in Limerick last night has not yet been named.

The tragedy unfolded about 9.30pm on Tuesday night at a house in Assumpta Park, a large estate close to the town centre.

Garda and two units of the fire brigade rushed to the scene and the man’s body was discovered in the house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man is believed to have been in his 70s.

There were no other people injured in the incident.

Gardai are now contacting the man’s relatives and an investigation into how the fire started is underway.
