A YOUNG man is due to appear in court later today after he was charged in connection with a shooting incident in Limerick city at the weekend.

A YOUNG man is due to appear in court later today after he was charged in connection with a shooting incident in Limerick city at the weekend.

The 22-year-old was arrested a short time after another man was shot at by a gunman who was cycling a pedal-bike.

The incident happened outside a house at Hyde Road, Prospect at around 2pm on Saturday.

The 42-year-old victim, who has a number of serious criminal convictions, was treated an University Hospital Limerick but was later discharged.

A sawn-off shotgun was recovered by investigating gardai and has been sent for ballistics testing.

The 22-year-old, who was charged at Roxboro Road garda station yesterday, is due to appear before a special sitting of Limerick District Court in Kilmallock this afternoon.
