A TEENAGER is being treated in hospital following a shooting incident on the southside of Limerick city this morning.

A TEENAGER is being treated in hospital following a shooting incident on the southside of Limerick city this morning.

The 17-year-old sustained serious injuries to one of his legs when he was shot at around 10am.

It is understood the shooting happened near the railway tracks in Janesboro and that the youth managed to make his way to Carey’s Road where he raised the alarm.

He was treated there by paramedics before being taken to University Hospital Limerick.

While serious, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
