TRAFFIC in Limerick city centre came to a stand still this Tuesday as a large articulated truck got caught in a jam.
The driver of the truck got into trouble when he tried to exit onto O’Connell Avenue, near St Joseph’s Church, and ran out of room.
“It is an extremely long truck, he got stuck and could not go back or forwards. People were ringing the gardai to let people who had cars parked know, so they could move them” said one eye witness.
“You could see from a long way off that the road was completely blocked so most drivers took diversions,” he added.
A motorist at the scene said: “It is an hour since the incident occurred, a funeral has to be diverted, and there is still no gardai here.”
Henry Street gardai said they were aware of the situation.
