LIMERICK City and County Council says it hopes to have water supplies restored to normal later this afternoon after a water main burst on the northside of the city this morning.
Residents at Brookville Avenue close in Caherdavin woke to flooded roads after the pipe burst shortly after 5am. While the worst areas remain passable, motorists have been asked to exercise extreme caution in the area.
The incident is the second in recent days after another water main burst in the Roxboro area a week ago.
The water, which was several feet deep in places, entered the driveways of some homes but there are no reports of water entering any buildings.
Water supplies were turned off in Caherdavin, Brookville Avenue, Woodview Park, Cratloe Road, Woodview Gardens and in LIT to facilitate repair works.
