TWO men arrested last week as part of an investigation into organised crime in Limerick have been released from custody with files being prepared for the DPP.

TWO men arrested last week as part of an investigation into organised crime in Limerick have been released from custody with files being prepared for the DPP.

Raids were carried out on a number of homes and a shed in Gerald Griffin Street and the Cornmarket areas of the city on Thursday morning.

The operation yielded a loaded pistol, cartridges and other ammunition as well as cocaine with a street value of €5,000, a cocaine press and other items connected with drug dealing.

Two men - one aged 37 and the other in his mid-20s - were arrested and questioned at Henry Street garda station.

One of the men was released without charge late on Friday, the other on Saturday.
