A HOMEMADE firearm and €30,000 worth of ecstasy tablets have been seized by gardai following a raid on a house in West Limerick.

A 44-year-old man was also arrested during the planned search of a property in the Castlemahon area on Thursday.

The man, who is thought to be from the Newcastle West area, was questioned at Henry Street garda station. He was released without charge on Thursday evening, and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

The drugs were discovered by detectives from the divisional drugs unit and local gardai on Thursday morning. The homemade firearm was found in a follow up search.
