Man dies in West Limerick road accident

A 63-year-old man has died following a road collision in West Limerick this Friday morning. The victim has been named locally as Tom Sullivan, a married father-of-five who lived in Carrigkerry village.

A 63-year-old man has died following a road collision in West Limerick this Friday morning. The victim has been named locally as Tom Sullivan, a married father-of-five who lived in Carrigkerry village.

Gardai are investigating the two-vehicle accident, which took place at about 7.10am on the R523 at Carrigkerry. The victim is understood to have been the sole occupant of one of the vehicles. The driver of the other vehicle - a 33-year-old male - was taken to Limerick University Hospital but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

Following the incident, the road was closed to facilitate technical and forensic examinations.
