GARDAI have arrested two men in connection with a burglary in which a teenage girl was tied up in County Limerick last night.

Three men burst through the French doors of a home in the townland of Killuragh, Pallasgreen.

The men, who wore balaclavas and gloves, were armed with a shotgun when they forced entry at around 9.45pm.

The Limerick Leader understands that the family of six - parents and four children - were watching TV at the time.

It is believed that the father was handcuffed and a teenage daughters’ hands were tied up. It is understood that two of the other children ran upstairs and were chased by the intruders.

A garda spokesperson said: “They demanded cash and left with a number of items. The ordeal lasted between 10 to 15 minutes, they were able to free each other and raise the alarm.”

Gardai rushed to the scene and tracked the movements of the car. Two arrests were made on the outskirts of Mallow last night.

This is the third aggravated burglary in two weeks in East Limerick and Bruff gardai are following a line of enquiry that they are connected.
