A MAN who is accused of having a sawn-off shotgun in the city centre last week is expected to apply for bail when he appears in court again tomorrow.
Brian Walsh, aged 25, of St Michael’s Lawn, Mahon, Cork is charged with possession of the weapon at O’Connell Avenue on June 8, last.
Walsh, who appeared before a special court sitting at the weekend, is also accused of possession of three rounds of 12-gauge shotgun cartridges on the same date.
The defendant was arrested after gardai, assisted by members of the armed regional response unit, stopped a car at around 12 midday last Friday.
At Saturday’s court hearing, the defendant was granted free legal aid as he is unemployed.
Solicitor John Herbert indicated he would be applying for bail when Walsh appears before the court again tomorrow,
