NEW figures from the HSE show the Mid Western Regional Hospital is in more financial trouble than any other hospital in the country.
According to the latest monthly performance report for May, the hospital was more than €14m over budget for the first five months of the year.
The figures show that a total of €69.1m was spent at the hospital between January and May compared to a budget of €54.79m. This represents an overrun of more than 26%.
Other hospitals in Limerick were also over budget at the end of May.
The Regional Maternity Hospital was 28.6% over budget, Croom Orthopaedic 56.02% and St John’s 2.07%.
