EIGHT recent students at CBS, Sexton Street will be honoured this Friday night when they are presented with JP McManus scholarships.

The eight – Shane Cronin, Lee Keating, Jordan O’Donnell, Shane McNamara, Ronan Malone, David McKevitt, Eric Nolan, and Shane Cope – completed their Leaving Certificate examinations in June and are all now attending college or university. Each of them will receive almost €7,000 a year through the scholarship scheme for the duration of their third -level studies.

Since the JP McManus Scholarship Awards were established in 1996, more than 140 former students from CBS Sexton Street have received scholarships at a total cost of more than €2.5m.

More than 100 scholarship recipients have graduated to date with many now working around the globe. This year’s recipients will be formally presented with their scholarships at a gala event at the Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare on Friday night.

The scholarship scheme, which costs almost €200,000 a year, is administered by a number of trustees on behalf of JP McManus, who is a past pupil of CBS Sexton Street.
