Heavy rain and high winds are expected to lead to flooding throughout Limerick this weekend
A Code Orange flood warning has been issued for Limerick this Friday night and during Saturday with heavy rain and high winds forecast over the coming 48 hours.

A Code Orange flood warning has been issued for Limerick this Friday night and during Saturday with heavy rain and high winds forecast over the coming 48 hours.

Met Eireann is predicting “incessant falls of heavy rain” overnight and for all of Saturday with accumulations of 50 to 70 mm expected.

A Code Yellow Wind Warning has also been issued for Limerick. Southwest winds with mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h will gust 90 to 100km/h.

A Limerick City and County Council spokesperson said: “Spot flooding is considered likely due to the volume of rain that is forecast to fall on already saturated ground. We are advising property owners in flood prone locations and motorists to exercise vigilance during the period.”
