A MAN has been removed from the River Shannon near Limerick city centre after he was seen entering the water earlier this Wednesday afternoon.

A MAN has been removed from the River Shannon near Limerick city centre after he was seen entering the water earlier this Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services, including members of Limerick Marine Search and Rescue and Limerick Fire and Rescue, responded within minutes and were assisted by Rescue 115, the Shannon-based rescue helicopter.

The man was located in the water near a pontoon at the rear of the Hunt Museum at around 3.45pm and was transferred to a waiting ambulance at Steamboat Quay a short time later.

At this stage, his condition is not known.
