A MAN and a woman are being questioned about a significant drugs seizure on the southside of Limerick city.
The two - who are aged 36 and 29 - were arrested at around 9.30 last night after gardai attached to the divisional drugs unit seized heroin with a street value of around €80,000.
It is understood some of the drugs were seized when a car was stopped and searched in the Rathbane area of the city and that a further quantity was recovered when a property at St Patrick’s Road was searched.
A garda spokesman said the arrests are part of ongoing intelligence-led operations tackling the sale and distribution of heroin in the city.
The man and woman are being detained at Roxboro Road garda station under drugs trafficking legislation where they can be detained for a maximum of seven days without charge.
