GARDAI in Bruff are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Main Street, Hospital at approximately 2.10am this Tuesday morning.

The accident happened outside the Hospital Community Hall and relatives of the deceased were at the scene this morning.

A 44 year old male pedestrian was fatally injured when he was struck by a car. No other persons were injured.

The road was closed early this Tuesday to facilitate a Garda forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

“It is a terrible tragedy, both men are local. The driver of the car is extremely shocked and upset,” one local at the scene told our reporter this morning.
