A LIMERICK bride and groom had a wedding day they will never forget after they were given a Garda escort to their reception - and got to meet the giant granny.

Aidan Kiely, Monaleen, and Sinead Cusack, Corbally, married at Monaleen Church after going out for 12 years on Friday.

They booked their reception at No 1 Pery Square hotel before the Royal De Luxe show was booked for Limerick.

Although much of the city was out of bounds to traffic due to this, hotel manager Terri Culligan ensured both shows could go on, with the happy couple enjoying a Garda escort from the Dock Road to Barrington Street.

Aidan and Sinead paid tribute to Terri for organising it.

Sinead said: “It was amazing, very exciting. It was like being in a movie. It was great: thanks to Terri Culligan who organised everything.”

The remaining 90 guests at the reception were not so lucky, however, being dropped off at Little Barrington Street, walking the final few metres to the hotel.

The couple have gone on a short honeymoon at the Europe Hotel, Killarney before Adrian starts college in a fortnight.
