A FILE is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) following the discovery of a drugs factory on the outskirts of the city at the weekend.
Three men were arrested after two houses were searched on Saturday night during a intelligence-led operation.
As part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Limerick area, gardai from the Bruff district assisted by members of the divisional Drugs Unit, uncovered a drug manufacturing plant when they searched a house at Annagh, Lisnagry at around 7pm on Saturday.
A substantial quantity of Ecstasy tablets, worth an estimated €150,000, was recovered at the house, which is located near a cottage where more than a €1m worth of Cannabis was seized almost two years ago.
Following Saturday night’s search two men from County Kilkenny, who aged in their early 20s were arrested and taken to Henry Street garda station where they were questioned under drug trafficking legislation.
During a follow-up search of a house at Caislean na hAbhainn, Castletroy a significant quantity of cannabis herb was recovered.
A Garda spokesman confirmed the street value of the drugs is around €50,000.
A local man, aged in his mid 20s, was arrested at the house following the search.
All three men were released without charge late on Sunday night pending directions from the DPP.
