THE GLITZ and glamour of old Hollywood will sparkle brightly at the Dunraven Arms Hotel in Adare on April 26 when a fundraising ball takes place in aid of Cliona’s Foundation.
In attendance at the ball will be Gold Cup winning jockey Davy Russell who took time out from his back-to-back schedule to launch the event. Davy has also donated a pair of signed jodhpurs which will be auctioned off.
The organisers of the event are three young healthcare professionals from Limerick, Sarah Brennan, Jessica Hanly and Catriona Kennelly. The group of friends were living together as students when they saw RTE’s Secret Millionaire, a documentary in which businessman Richard Mulcahy profiled Cliona’s Foundation during his undercover week in Limerick.
“We were completely in awe of the foundation and we just looked at each other after watching the RTE documentary and decided there and then that we wanted to help other families with seriously ill children in Ireland,” said Sarah.
Cliona’s Foundation is a registered Irish charity set up in 2007 by Lough Gur couple Terry and Brendan Ring, following the death of their daughter Clíona from a brain tumour. Cliona’s Foundation wants to help families to cope and soften their heartbreaking journey by providing financial support when all other resources have been exhausted.
The ball on April 26 will be a glitzy black-tie event with an old Hollywood glamour theme.
Guests will be greeted on the night with a drinks reception followed by a three course meal. There will be a raffle for prizes such as Garth Brooks tickets and a Ballymaloe cookery demonstration. Tickets are priced at €65 per person will all profits going to the charity.
The Dunraven Arms are offering a special room rate for ticket holders.
