GARDAI have issued a description of an armed raider who stole a quantity of cash from Raheen Foodstore at the weekend.

The lone male, who was armed with what was described by witnesses as a single-barrel sawn-off shotgun, entered the premises on Mulcair Road at around 2.30pm on Saturday.

According to investigating gardai, once inside the culprit knocked a customer to the ground before assaulting a member of staff.

He then took a quantity of cash from two cash registers on the premises and left the store. He fled the area by jumping over a wall at the rear of the premises.

The raider is described as being around six feet tall. He wearing a grey hoody with navy blue jeans and black shoes with a white sole.

He was also wearing white latex gloves and kept his face covered at all times while in the store.

“This was an extremely traumatic experience for all persons who were involved and witnessed this incident and the gardai at Roxboro Road would be grateful to any assistance that the public may be able to provide to help identify the culprit,” said a garda spokesman.
