Limerick road crash victim named

THE man who was killed at 3.30am yesterday morning while walking near the Rathkeale area on Monday morning has been named as Steve Duggan, 22, from Feohanagh.

THE man who was killed at 3.30am yesterday morning while walking near the Rathkeale area on Monday morning has been named as Steve Duggan, 22, from Feohanagh.

He worked in the Four Winds, bar and restaurant, Charleville and was walking near the Rathkeale bypass when he was struck by a van on what one local garda described as a “dark and dirty night.”

The collision happened at Blossomhill, on the Croagh to Rathkeale Road, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the van and the female driver, both in their late 20s, were uninjured in the fatal collision.

Gardaí in Newcastle West are investigating the incident.
