A MAN is being questioned following a robbery at a city hotel in the early hours of this morning.

A MAN is being questioned following a robbery at a city hotel in the early hours of this morning.

According to investigating gardai, a one male entered the reception area of a hotel on the Dock Road at around 3am and threatened a male member of staff with a syringe.

The culprit then demanded cash before fleeing from the hotel with a cash box.

Gardaí were alerted and a man was arrested a short time later at the nearby Windmill apartment complex.

The 30-year-old is being detained at Henry Street garda station under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act.

A spokesperson for the Garda Press Office said nobody was injured during the incident and that the cash box was recovered.
