THE body of a Limerick man who has been missing since the weekend has been recovered from the sea near Ballybunion, County Kerry
The 64-year-old, who is believed to have been from Limerick city, was last seen in the coastal village on Saturday afternoon.
Searches for the man began yesterday afternoon and resumed at first light this morning.
The body of the man was spotted in the water off the Long Strand in Ballybunion by the Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter shortly before midday today.
Up to 40 people took part in the search, including family and friends of the deceased man, members of the Ballybunion Sea & Cliff Rescue Service, Ballyheigue Sea and Cliff Rescue, Ballyheigue Inshore Rescue and Coast Guard teams from Ballybunion and Glenderry.
The body of the man has been handed over to gardai and a post mortem is expected to carried out later.
