Limerick gardai investigate early morning burglary at shop
Up to five men were involved in the crime which was carried out at the Centra store on the main street at 3.15am on Tuesday.
The men used a ladder to gain entry through the front window of the shop and they remained inside the store for approximately 30 minutes.
CCTV footage is being examined and, according to gardai, the men, who had their faces covered, were travelling in a dark coloured saloon.
In light of the recent upsurge in burglaries in the east Limerick area, Deputy Niall Collins TD, is calling on the Minister for Justice for reassurances that there won’t be any closures of rural garda stations. “With the moratorium on garda recruitment and the depleted number of gardai, resources are stretched and people are concerned about the number of robberies,” he said.
Anyone with information in relation to the incident can contact Bruff Garda Station on 061 382940.
