Five arrested in connection with murder of Limerick pensioner

GARDAI investigating the murder of pensioner James Boyce earlier this month have arrested five people during a series of early-morning raids.

GARDAI investigating the murder of pensioner James Boyce earlier this month have arrested five people during a series of early-morning raids.

The body of Mr Boyce, who was aged 72, was discovered at his home in St Mary’s Park on March 7 last after neighbours contacted gardai after becoming concerned for his safety.

This morning three men and two women were arrested as part of the murder investigation. Those arrested range in age from their late teens to their late forties.

Four of them are being detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act and one under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

They are being questioned at Garda stations in Limerick city and in Shannon.
