Michael Joe Hourigan, 75, from Ahane lost his fight for life on Saturday afternoon and will be laid to rest after requiem Mass in Ahane church at 11.30am on Tuesday morning.

He had been in a critical condition at the Mid Western Regional Hospital following the accident which happened at Rielly’s Cross, Lisnagry shortly after 2pm on January 3, last.

His brother, Richard, 77, who was a passenger in the car, died in hospital a number of hours after the collision, which happened on the old Dublin Road.

The brothers were returning from Castleconnell to Ahane when their vehicle was involved in a crash with a jeep at Reilly’s Cross.
