Escaped prisoner is apprehended in County Limerick

A LIMERICK man who escaped from custody outside Limerick Prison last week has been apprehended by gardai.

A LIMERICK man who escaped from custody outside Limerick Prison last week has been apprehended by gardai.

Christopher O’Donnell, 26, who has addresses in Garryowen and Moyross was located in the Fedamore area at around 2am by gardai who responded to reports of suspicious activity in the locality.

A spokesperson for Roxboro Road garda station confirmed that he was apprehended and has since been returned to Limerick Prison.

O’Donnell escaped last Thursday evening as he and another man were being transported by Galway-based gardai to Limerick Prison. The pair had earlier appeared in court charged in connection with the theft of a car.

The 23-year-old was apprehended a short time later and O’Donnell, who also escaped from custody a year ago today, remained at large until the early hours of this morning.

It is not known if he will be prosecuted in relation the escape.
