THE motor tax office in Dooradoyle is to operate on a reduced basis for the next six weeks due to a reduction in staffing levels.

Limerick County Council says the offices at Lissanalta House will now open between 10.30am and 3.30pm each weekday.

The reduced opening times will operate until the end of August.

Jayne Leahy of the Limerick County Council Motor Taxation Office says the measure is necessary.

“Due to current reduced staffing levels it is necessary to reduce the opening hours of our Motor Taxation department in Dooradoyle by one hour each morning to facilitate the efficient processing of postal transactions. This will ensure we maximise the number of counter staff available to deal with the public,” she said.

Ms Leahy is apologising to members of the public for any inconvenience caused.

“During this period longer than normal queues are expected so we encourage members of the public to use alternative payment methods including our online tax service at www.motortax.ie and the Motor Tax Department’s postal service.
