Quadruple murder accused sent forward for trial

A MAN charged with the murders of two women and two young children in Newcastle West last year has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

A MAN charged with the murders of two women and two young children in Newcastle West last year has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

John Geary, 31, of Meadowcourt, Newcastle West appeared before the local court again today charged with the murders of Sarah Hines, 25, her children Reece, 3, and Amy, five months, and 20-year-old Alicia Brough at a home at Hazelgrove, Newcastle West last November 15.

Mr Geary was served with the book of evidence, which extends to three volumes, and following an application from State Solicitor Aidan Judge he was remanded in custody to the current sittings of the Central Criminal court.

Judge Mary O’Halloran extended Mr Geary’s free-legal-aid to include a barrister and a senior counsel.
