TWO men have died following a road crash on the N21 between Adare and Rathkeale. The single vehicle crash happened shortly before 9.30 on Tuesday night.
The pair were travelling in a car which went out of control and collided with a tree near the village of Croagh.
A third man who was also in the car sustained serious injuries and he was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where his condition has been described as "critical"
Three units of the fire brigade and three ambulances attended the scene of the collision for over an hour.
The road was closed following the crash to allow forensic examinations of the scene to be completed.
It is unclear what road conditions were like at the time of the crash.
Gardai at Askeaton have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
