GARDA John Finnerty of Bruff Garda Station has warned houseowners in County Limerick to be wary of bogus tradesmen.

GARDA John Finnerty of Bruff Garda Station has warned houseowners in County Limerick to be wary of bogus tradesmen.

"During the big freeze last winter there were a number of bogus tradesmen operating in the city and county area.

"They were calling to houses and informing the owners that they were either plumbers being sent from Limerick County Council to deal with frozen pipes or other tradesmen. ]

"Be aware that if someone does call to your house without a prior arrangement, you do not have to entertain them," said Garda Finnerty, who advised anyone who suspected that the callers weren't legitimate to contact their nearest Garda station.

"If you do have problems with frozen pipes, or any other inconveniences, use registered tradesmen that are legitimate," said Garda Finnerty.
