Man facing trial on city off-licence robbery
A MAN is to face trial at Limerick Circuit Court in relation to two alleged robberies in the city earlier this year.

A MAN is to face trial at Limerick Circuit Court in relation to two alleged robberies in the city earlier this year.

Garda Shane Hayes served the book of evidence on 24-year-old Anthony Earls before Judge John O’Neill at Limerick District Court.

Earls, of St Ita’s Street, St Mary’s Park, is charged with robbing €500 in cash at O’Brien’s off-licence at the Parkway Shopping Centre on January 5, 2013.

He is also accused of robbing a till valued at €500 and €250 in cash at Polo Market on Ellen Street on February 10.

Sgt Donal Cronin, Henry Street garda station, said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that the accused be tried before a judge and jury in the Circuit Court.

Judge O’Neill assigned solicitor Turlough Herbert plus one counsel to represent Earls and issued the alibi warning.
