Several arrests have been made in Limerick as part of a major garda operation targeting criminal activity and the actions of criminal gangs across the country.

Details of the arrests, which were made yesterday as part of Operation Wireless II, have only been disclosed by the Garda Press Office this afternoon.

Fifteen men - aged in their 20s and 30s - were arrested at locations in the greater Limerick area during pre-planned searches yesterday morning.

More than 100 people have now been arrested nationally and yesterday’s raids in Limerick were led by Det Supt Jim Browne.

The men arrested in Limerick were questioned at Henry Street, Roxboro Road and Mayorstone garda stations about a variety of offences including, robbery burglary, and theft.

A number of them have since appeared in court and files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the remainder.
