A kilogramme of cannabis resin, worth around €6,000, was recovered in the Ballysimon area during an operation involving members of the drugs squad at Henry Street garda station.

Two men, who are understood to be Italian nationals, were arrested following the seizure and were questioned under drug trafficking legislation before being released without charge.

The suspects are both aged in their fifties and gardai say the drugs have been sent for forensic analysis at Garda Headquarters in Dublin.
