A MOTHER who is accused of murdering her eight-year-old son, was medically unfit to attend court in County Limerick earlier today.

A MOTHER who is accused of murdering her eight-year-old son, was medically unfit to attend court in County Limerick earlier today.

Diane Ward, aged 43, of Harrisons Place, Charleville, Co Cork is charged with killing Anthony Ward at their home on September 3 last.

When her case was called at Newcastle West Court this morning, Insp Paul Reidy said the accused was “medically unfit to travel” to court from Dublin and he sumbitted a letter from the HSE confirming this to Judge Mary Larkin.

Insp Reidy said the State was seeking to have the matter adjourned for a forthnight to Limerick District Court where Ms Ward could appear via video link.

Ms Ward’s solicitor Paul Cagney did not object to the application.

Judge Larkin remanded the accused in continuing custody until September 25 next.
