THE funeral arrangements of a County Limerick man killed in a road accident in Galway at the weekend have been announced.

Liam O’Connor, 28, of Kylefea, Croom was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with an oncoming car at a notorious blackspot on the Scariff to Gort road in Galway on Sunday morning.

Mr O’Connor who was single was on his way home having attended the Dal Riada Motorcycle Club ‘Plan of Attack’ rally in Killanena, Co Clare, the day before.

His remains will be reposing in Daffy’s funeral home, Croom, this Tuesday at 6pm with removal at 8pm.

Requiem Mass for the late Mr O’Connor takes place at St Mary’s Church, Croom on Wednesday at 12pm with burial afterwards in Reilig Mhuire, Croom.

Local councillor Pat Fitzgerald said the death of the young man was “another tragedy on the roads that we don’t want to see happening”.

The biking community are said to be in “shock and disbelief” following the death. The news filtered through to the biking community almost immediately after the incident with other bikers coming across the scene as they made their own way home from the rally.

Mr O’Connor is survived by his parents Willie and Ann, brother Brendan, sisters Áine and Eimear, uncles, aunts, grandmother Maureen, grandaunts, granduncles, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends.
