HENRY Street Gardai are hoping that CCTV footage will help them apprehend two theives who robbed a takeaway premises in the city after threatening staff with a hammer

The frightening incident happened last Wednesday in Mulgrave Street when two men entered the takeaway, armed with a hammer.

“The culprits took the cash till and left the takeaway in a silver Nissan Almera that was found burned out on the Kilmallock Road a short time later.

One of the culprits was described as being approximately 6ft in height. He was wearing a green Addidas tracksuit with white stripes down the shoulders and white runners.

“The second male was described as being 5ft 8in approximately in height and he was wearing an all grey tracksuit with green cuffs and black runners,” explained Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Brian Broderick. Both men were wearing gloves.

The Gardaí at Henry Street are examining CCTV footage and anyone with any information about this robbery is asked to contact Henry Street at 061 212400 or on the confidential phone line at 1800 666 111.

Gardai are particularly appealing to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Mulgrave Street at around the time of the robbery to contact them at (061) 212400.
