Arrests in Limerick during major garda operation

A GANG of thieves suspected of being involved in the burglaries of homes and businesses across Munster have been arrested as part of a major garda operation tackling organised crime.

A GANG of thieves suspected of being involved in the burglaries of homes and businesses across Munster have been arrested as part of a major garda operation tackling organised crime.

A substantial amount of cash has been seized and bank accounts have been frozen as part of the operation which is being coordinated from an incident room which has been established at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick.

Ten men, ranging in age from 20 to 45, have been arrested in Limerick, Clare, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford. All ten are being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Five of the men are being questioned at Limerick garda stations, and the other five are detained at stations across the region. They can be held for up to seven days.

The Criminal Assets Bureau is assisting the gardai in the investigation.
