Man arrested after aggravated burglary in Limerick

Gardaí at Henry Street in Limerick are investigating an aggravated burglary and assault which happened in the city overnight.

A 34 year old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred in an apartment at Lower Glentworth Street at approximately 1.20am this Monday morning.

A lone male entered the apartment and assaulted two male occupants, with both injured males - aged 22 and 23 years respectively - receiving stab wounds.

The injuries are described as not life threatening, with both injured men taken to University Hospital Limerick.

Property including cash and mobile phones were stolen during the incident.

During a follow up operation by gardai a man was arrested and is being held at Henry Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Some property was also recovered during this operation.

Gardai said “investigations are continuing”.
