A COUNTY Limerick man in his late 70s died on Monday after he sustained serious burns in a tragic accident in his home.

A COUNTY Limerick man in his late 70s died on Monday after he sustained serious burns in a tragic accident in his home.

The man, who has been named locally as Eamon O’Sullivan, was understood to have been lighting a fire at his home in Dromcollogher yesterday morning when his clothes caught fire.

Two units from Newcastle West fire service and ambulance personnell attended the man’s home, where he was found to have sustained significant burns in the incident. The man was airlifted from the local GAA pitch to Cork University Hospital, where he died late on Monday night.
