NATIONAL media organisations have reported this afternoon that a senior GAA figure has been arrested in County Limerick following allegations of sexual assault made against him
The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested by Bruff gardai early this morning.
It is understood he was arrested at his home in the east of the county.
Bruff gardai conveyed the man, who is married with children, to Henry Street garda station for questioning
He is being held under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardai can question the man for an initial 12 hour period, and can then apply to extend the period of detention for a maximum 24 hours from a district court
