GARDAI are investigating an incident in the village of Doon during which a woman disturbed thieves who had broken into her home.

According to gardai, the woman returned home at around 8.40pm last Friday to discover a dark coloured sports car parked outside.

“On approaching the side door of her house somebody in the car blew the horn and two males ran from the kitchen out past her,” said Sgt Gerry Enright who added that the culprits had entered the house by forcing open the kitchen window.

Nothing was taken from the house and gardai are appealing for information about the car which had a registration of 04C17742.

Sgt Enright said the two men who ran from the house were aged in their early 20s.

“One had ginger red hair and he was wearing a black heavy jacket and the second fella was wearing a navy or black hoodie,” he said.

One line of enquiry being pursued by gardai is that the incident was linked to a spate of burglaries which happened in the Tipperary garda district earlier on the same day.

Separately, gardai are appealing for information after two licenced firearms were stolen from a house at Effin, Kilmallock on Monday evening.

The weapons are described as being an under and over shotgun and a bolt-action rifle.

Gardai at Bruff are investigating the incident, which happened sometime between 6pm and 7pm.
