THE long summer wait is finally over for more than 2,500 students from across Limerick who will receive their leaving certificate results today.
The results were delivered to schools across Limerick city and county overnight amid tight security.
While most students will collect their results in person from their schools this morning, others will wait until 12 midday to download them from a dedicated website.
Although Leaving Cert students will learn their results today, they will have to wait for a few more weeks to see if they have secured a college offer. First round offers are expected on August 22, while second round offers will be out on September 2.
Gardai are parents groups are appealing to those who receive their results today not to drink excessively when celebrating tonight.
The Minister for Education and Skills Ruairí Quinn has sent his congratulations to all those who will receive results today.
“All of you should be rightly proud of your achievements.” Today is the culmination of many years of hard work and I hope that your dedication is reflected in the results that you receive today,” said Minister Quinn.
