INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after two female staff members at a busy foodstore were threatened at knife point and locked in an office by a man who robbed the premises.

The incident happened shortly after 7am this morning at Ryan’s Raheen Foodstore at Mulcaire Road, Raheen.

The female staff members were targeted by the lone culprit who entered the store as it was opening for business

The man, who was armed with a knife, threatened the women before forcing them into a back office which he locked before making his escape with a small amount of cash.

According to gardai, who were alerted a short time after the incident, the culprit escaped in the direction of Church Road, Raheen in a stolen blue Opel Corsa car.

Gardai are appealing for information about the whereabouts of the vehicle, which has a 06-Lk registration.

House to house enquires have been conducted and detectives are also examining cctv footage from the store in the hope of identifying the culprit.
