GARDAI are continuing to question a 19-year-old man in relation to a shooting incident in Limerick city at the weekend.

A 21-year-old man sustained serious facial injuries in the incident which happened at Hyde Road, Ballinacurra Weston at around midnight on Sunday.

According to gardai, the victim was taken to University Hospital Limerick following the incident where his injuries have been described as not-life threatening.

A 19-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the incident during a follow-up search is being questioned by detectives at Roxboro Road garda station.

He is being questioned under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
