FOUR units of the Limerick City Fire and Rescue service attended at fire at the University of Limerick in the early hours of this morning.

FOUR units of the Limerick City Fire and Rescue service attended at fire at the University of Limerick in the early hours of this morning.

The alarm was raised by security staff shortly after 2.40am and the emergency services remained at the scene for more than an hour.

It is understood a light-fighting fell at a laboratory in the Schrödinger Building, causing a small blaze and extensive smoke damage.

There are no reports of any injuries.
