STUDENTS and staff alike at Scoil Mhuire agus Ide, Newcastle West will be donning their glad rags next week for a stellar fundraising fashion show.
Next Thursday night’s event at the Courtenay Lodge Hotel will see clothes from boutiques and stores from around West Limerick modelled in order to raise money for the Boherbui school’s transition year programme.
The fashion show follows on from the school’s successful ‘Who Wants to be a Thousandaire’ fundraising event last year, which raised thousands of euro for school repairs, and for the provision of minor subjects.
Teacher Neasa Harris, one of the fashion show’s organising committee, said that the previous shows “have been a huge success, both for the school and for local businesses”.
As well as the feast of fashion on display, the night will see a host of entertainment on offer including a musical number performed by transition year students and music from a local boy band ‘2Direction’. MC will be Richard Lynch of I Love Limerick fame, while DJ duties will be handled by Spin South West’s Liam Mackessy, a past pupil of SMI.
Tickets for the event are available for €10 each on the door, or can be purchased in advance by calling 069 62443. The night begins with a red carpet cheese and wine reception at 7.30pm.
Among the local stores that will be providing fashion on the night include Moran’s, Style Bay, Elle Boutique, Scanlan’s menswear, Gatsby, G Boutique, Kimono, Noel’s, Bella Sola, Ela Maria, Aphrodite and Mrs Gilbourne’s hat wear.
