OVER €1,000 of cannabis herb was found in Doon by Cappamore and Bruff gardai with the assistance of a drugs dog.

Gardai used the sniffer dog from Cork to help in an intelligence led search of a laneway opposite Coonagh Court in Doon last Friday night.

“We became aware that there were drugs hidden in a very overgrown area. We called in the drugs dog and within five minute it became very interested in an area beside a tree. We searched the undergrowth and found a bag of cannabis herb,” said a garda spokesperson.

On the same evening, November 23, three houses were raided in Inse Bui housing estate in Cappamore.

“We found smaller quantities of cocaine and cannabis herb in two of the houses,” they said.

No arrests were made. Files are being prepared for the DPP.
