A 32-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering Martin Purcell last week.
Gerard Manning, who has an address at Upper Gerald Griffin Street was arrested at Roxboro Road on Sunday afternoon.
At Limerick District Court this morning, Detective Garda Vincent Brick said he charged Mr Manning late last night after directions were received from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mr Manning is accused of killing Mr Purcell at a flat on Wickham Street sometime between last Wednesday, September 28, and last Friday, September 30.
The defendant, who was granted free legal aid, was remanded in custody until October 11, next,
The body of Martin Purcell, 54, was found at the flat where he lived on Wickham Street last Friday morning.
Post Mortem results show he died from multiple stab wounds.
