A FOURTEEN-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the discovery of two pipe bombs in County Limerick earlier this week.

A FOURTEEN-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the discovery of two pipe bombs in County Limerick earlier this week.

One of devices exploded in the hallway of a house at the Ballywilliam Estate in Rathkeale during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The second was made safe a number of hours later by members of the army bomb squad, who were called to the house from Collins Barracks in Cork.

A 17-year-old boy and a woman in her fifties were also arrested shortly before 8 O'clocl this morning.

All three are being questioned, under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, at garda stations across Limerick.

They can be detained without charge for a maximum of seven days.
